Credit Sesame is looking for a Controller as a key leader and team member to help establish, maintain and execute financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems for a company poised to grow. Reporting to the CEO, you will manage a strong team and prepare the team and organization for further scale. You'll also advise and contribute to team strategy and planning.

- Manage the close process and related reporting, including revenue recognition and overall Global Consolidation;
- Manage the the company’s process for capitalizing software costs by collaborating with the engineering and product teams to manage develop an efficient system to document capitalizable hours;
- Own audits with external auditors (e.g., lead technical accounting areas, memorandums, and related adoption of new standards) and maintain the relationship;
- Oversee the preparation and review of financial statements in compliance with US GAAP reporting standards for internal management and external investors;
- Evaluate the changes in accounting that result from changes in our business (e.g., revenue model, licensing, partnerships, M&A);
- Own the interpretation, implementation, and monitoring of all accounting procedures and related controls for public market preparation;
- Own relationship with external tax providers and manage tax reporting and comply with federal, state, and local legal requirements including research into new and anticipated legislation;
- Be a key leader in shaping strategic opportunities and optimizing structures from accounting, tax and structure perspective.
- Manage payroll, cap table, and related items;
- Identify opportunities for automation with current and potential future systems to increase team and company productivity;
- Partner with Finance on planning, reporting, and treasury management;
- Promote career development for the accounting team; inspire, and participate in essential strategic plans;
- Partner with our G&A team (People Operations, Legal, Compliance, etc.) to prepare the corporate entity for scale and efficiencies
You’re a great fit for our team because…
- You have 10+ years accounting experience with an active CPA;
- You have expert technical knowledge of US GAAP, technical accounting, PCAOB Audit standards/requirements, SEC reporting, COSO internal control framework, and other regulatory requirements;
- You have experience with software revenue recognition accounting;
- You have meaningful experience as a Controller, ideally with FinTech companies and/or IPO or public company experience
- You have experience evolving processes, controls, and systems to support a high-growth company;
- Preferred experience with systems including Netsuite, FloQast, Carta, etc.

At Credit Sesame, base pay is one part of our total compensation package. Actual salary will vary based on a candidate’s location, qualifications, skills, and experience. Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in Credit Sesame’s bonus and equity plan. The estimated pay range for this role in the San Francisco Bay Area is $210,000 - $250,000 and outside of the San Francisco Bay Area is $200,000 - $240,000.
